CeraSport Electrolyte Drink Mix Product Review

I have a really great product to share with you all today.

You should know that all the products that I share with you are based 100% off my own opinion. Some of the products I have purchased myself and some were sent to me as a sample to try out. Regardless the opinions are 100% my own and I will be upfront and honest about each.

That being said, today during my speed workout I tried a sample of CeraSport’s Rice Based Electrolyte Drink Mix.  I chose to try the Fruit Punch flavor.

Company Background

Cera Products, Inc. is a woman owned and operated business based out of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.  It was established in 1993 by Charlene and Esko Riikonen to develop, manufacture and distribute high-performance, proprietary rice-based oral rehydration solutions.”

What makes Cera Sport Different?

CeraSport is a rice-based hydration system which works to replenish essential salts and fluids that are typically lost during exercise.  The rice-base helps to avoid the cramping and stomach issues that often many sugary-based sports drinks can cause.  CeraSport is made with stevia instead of the normal sugars that are in most sports drinks today and is completely gluten free

Taste

Score: 4 out of 5

This is one of the most important things to me when trying a new sports drink.  There are many sports drinks out there today that are very strong tasting, and when I am running especially during hard workouts it is too much for me to handle.

CeraSport had a nice light taste and wasn’t too much to where it overpowered me during the workout.  I don’t tend to chug my drinks when I am running, so the taste was nice to take a sip of quickly and didn’t seem to carry much of an after taste.

The only thing that kept from giving it a perfect 5/5 is that there was something a little different in the taste. It wasn’t BAD per say it was just different from what I am used to.  I only noticed this in the beginning, as my workout progressed it began to taste normal to me so maybe it just took some getting used to.

Effects

Score: 5 out of 5

I had one of the best workouts I have had in a long time today.  This is my second speed workout this week, and I definitely performed better today using the CeraSport product as opposed to just plain water that I used in my workout on Monday. I preferred the fact that it didn’t have the normal simple sugars that most drink mixes have.

I started to sip on the CeraSport about 15-20 minutes before actually starting the workout.  I didn’t drink a lot but I wanted to get some of it my system while I was warming up and stretching so that I was ready to go when I got on the treadmill.

I drank the drink mix about ever 6-8 minutes. As I mentioned earlier I didn’t chug it I just simply took a small swig in my mouth.  I did this throughout the 11 mile workout and I don’t remember once really feeling fatigued or burnt out even near the end. I even remember feeling like I could keep going at the end, but made myself stop.

Mixing Ability:

IMG 1296

Score: 5 out of 5

This drink mix was quick and easy to mix together.  The water bottle instructed right on the front to add 16 oz of water and then 2 tbs of the CeraSport.  The sample packet that I had was already the correct amount so I just dumped it right into the water.

I did end up adding a little bit more than 16 oz of water into the bottle simply because I like my sports drinks a little watered down.  I would say I had about 18 oz of water so not that much more, but it helped to dilute it a little bit.

I shook the water bottle about 5-10 times and the entire mix had dissolved and was ready to go. There was no chunks or pieces of the mix left when I began to drink.

Overall Reaction:

This is a product I will incorporate into my runs probably 4-5 times a week. I don’t always use drink mixes when I am running but for harder and longer workouts I think this is a great addition.  I look forward to continuing to use CeraSport and trying out other flavors to improve my running and overall performance during my training.
