Greetings again - we had several small races over the past few weeks that I wanted to group into one report for you. Highlights include winning the TT and taking 2nd overall at the Tour of Millersburg, a win in the TT and 5th in the RR at the River Gorge Omnium, and a top 20 in the Iron Hill pro criterium!
Starting with the Tour of Millersburg, we had Chris Jones, Taylor Pearman, and Dakota Schaeffer competing. Chris has continued to strengthen his time trialing since being an important part of our National Championship winning Team Time Trial squad back in April, and Millersburg was another great test for him, with him handily winning the TT on a 30+ mph average speed and a new course record! In the crit, all 3 rode very strong, with Dakota marking mid-race moves and Chris and Taylor both racking up top 10s in the sprint. In the final stage road race, a late move unfortunately slipped away to take the win, but Chris did well enough in the sprint to secure 2nd on the overall general classification.
The weekend after Millersburg, our riders stayed in Pennsylvania to contest the Iron Hill Criterium in West Chester, PA, just outside of Philadelphia. Dakota featured heavily in the early and middle of the race, marking many dangerous moves and getting a lot of air time on the livestream of the event. Taylor was our best finisher in 18th in a very fast sprint. This race also marked the return of Dan Tokarczyk, who had to sit out much of the summer with a knee injury. Dan made a very successful return to racing with a finish in the 30s in this very hard pro race.
Lastly, we had half the squad travel down to Chattanooga, TN for the River Gorge Omnium. Chris again showed his TT chops by taking 3rd in the prologue, less than 3 seconds out of the lead. In the road race, Sean Gardner took a very impressive 5th place on the mountain top finish (1st through 4th place were all pros, so Sean was the first amateur rider across the line)!
