Final 2016 Results from More Cerasport sponsored Kelly Benefit Strategies LSV Elite Team!

We closed out our 2016 season with two very high profile races and had great rides at both, with a podium appearance at the GMSR and very aggressive racing in the Doylestown pro crit.
The Green Mountain Stage Race in Vermont has been a fixture on our calendar for several years, with Bryan Lewis winning the overall last year. This year was probably the highest caliber field the race had ever seen, with three current or former World Tour riders taking part, plus a 4 man squad from the powerhouse Rally pro team, but our guys did not disappoint.
Chris Jones got the weekend rolling with a very strong 2nd place in the opening time trial, just 10" behind winner (and KBS/LSV-alumnus) Justin Mauch! This was another high point for Chris and our best ever finish in the TT.
Day 2 was a rolling road race where both Taylor Pearman and Dakota Schaeffer infiltrated the day's breakaway along with most of the pros. Taylor rode to a very strong 4th place finish on the day in a tough sprint finish.
Sean Gardner provided another highlight on the 3rd stage as he was 5th on the mountain top finish! With about 30mi to go, a very strong 3 rider break slipped away - Chris and Taylor worked very hard to chase this break back so that Sean could have a chance at winning the stage. While they were ultimately unsuccessful in doing so, Sean had a fantastic ride on the final climb to take 5th, coming across the line as only the 2nd rider out of the field.
Everyone rode very aggressively in the final day's criterium, with Chris looking especially good as he joined a late race break with several GC riders. Despite being caught by the field in the last few laps, he still managed a top-20 placing on the stage, while Sean wrapped up his 11th GC position.
Our last races of the season were the Reading 120 and the pro crit in Doylestown the following day. Reading was an extremely challenging day for us, but our guys rode very tough and I was proud of their effort despite not coming up with any results.
Doylestown was a chance at a little redemption, however, and our guys seized it with both hands. Not even one lap into the 62mi crit, Chris Jones was off the front! After being brought back, he and Dakota traded attacks until settling in to recover during the middle of this very long criterium. In the last half hour of racing, Chris bridged to a very dangerous move of 8 riders, with all of the pro teams represented. Dakota and Taylor followed additional riders across, giving us 3 guys in the winning move, with Chris and Taylor taking 14th and 15th in a very difficult uphill sprint. This was a very strong ride from our guys - while 14th place might not seem like much on the page, for our riders to close out the season against such hard competition and on such a high note is really rewarding. You can see how hard they worked to achieve it from the attached screenshot of Taylor collapsing after the finish, taken from the livestream of the race!
Thanks again for all of your support this year!
