HYDRATION DONATION FOR DISASTER RELIEF

Hilton Head Island, S.C.:    Cera Products  donated four pallets of CeraLyte®  and CeraSport® rice-based oral rehydration drinks, weighing over 4 tons and valued at over $20,000, to Direct Relief International for its help in communities affected by recent hurricanes in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean Islands, and for the earthquake in Mexico.  For many years, Cera Products has supported Direct Relief’s emergency response work in the USA and in Third World countries in Africa, Asia and Central America.

Oral rehydration solutions (ORS) are one of the most needed items during emergencies, when water supplies are comprised and dehydration may affect many.   Flood waters usually contain E. coli, coliform and other bacteria or contaminants that cause diarrheal diseases.  ORS is a drink that can prevent serious dehydration.  CeraLyte rice-based ORS meets the World Health Organization (WHO) composition and is primarily used for diarrheal-disease outbreaks, while CeraSport is used for sweat replacement, fever and mild dehydration.  All Cera Products are gluten-free and have no added sugars.
